Nighttime Ramp Closures on I-5 in Douglas County to Cause Delays for Oregon Drivers
Drivers traveling Interstate 5 through Douglas County should prepare for nighttime disruptions this week. The Oregon Department of Transportation has announced a series of off-ramp closures for essential maintenance work, impacting several key exits.
The closures are scheduled to occur overnight, typically between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., to minimize traffic impact. Crews will be focusing on pavement repairs and signage updates. Affected ramps include those at Exit 119 for Canyonville, Exit 125 for Myrtle Creek, and Exit 136 for Tri-City. Specific ramps will be closed on different nights, with signed detours in place to guide motorists to the next available exit.
“We know these closures are an inconvenience, and we thank Oregonians for their patience,” said an ODOT spokesperson. “Completing this work at night is the safest option for both our crews and the traveling public. It allows us to make critical repairs without the volume of daytime traffic.”
Local business owners in the affected communities have been notified, and emergency vehicle access will be maintained. ODOT is urging all motorists, especially those driving commercial trucks or with early morning commutes, to plan ahead by checking the TripCheck website or app for real-time closure information and alternative routes.
With I-5 serving as the primary north-south artery on the West Coast, these overnight projects are vital for maintaining the safety and reliability of Oregon’s infrastructure. Drivers are reminded to slow down, stay alert, and obey all signage in the work zones.
