Loudoun Sheriff’s Diaper Drive Gets Extra Week, Ashburn Families Urged to Donate
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has announced a one-week extension for its annual community diaper drive, giving Ashburn residents more time to contribute to a critical local need. The drive, which supports families across the county, will now accept donations through next Friday.
“We heard from several community groups and individuals who wanted to organize last-minute collections, so extending the deadline was an easy decision,” said a sheriff’s office spokesperson. “Every single diaper donated stays right here in Loudoun to help our neighbors.”
For Ashburn families, the drive addresses a often-overlooked essential. Diapers are a significant monthly expense and are not covered by assistance programs like WIC or SNAP. Local food pantries and family service organizations report that diapers are among their most requested—and least donated—items.
Residents can drop off unopened packages of diapers of all sizes at the Sheriff’s Office headquarters in Leesburg or at any of the county’s patrol stations, including the one frequently used by Ashburn deputies. The department is specifically seeking donations of larger sizes (4, 5, and 6) and pull-ups, which are in particularly short supply.
“Ashburn has always shown tremendous generosity in supporting local initiatives,” the spokesperson added. “This extra week allows those who want to help to pick up a pack while doing their regular shopping. It’s a simple act that makes a real difference for a parent struggling to make ends meet.”
All collected diapers will be distributed through a network of local partners, including the Loudoun County Department of Family Services and area shelters, ensuring they reach families directly within our community.
