Grinner Goes Solo: Phil Jamieson Announces New Album ’10Charlie’ and Intimate ‘PJ Air’ Tour
Melbourne’s own rock frontman, Phil Jamieson, is stepping out from the shadow of the stage lights and into a more personal spotlight. The iconic voice of Grinspoon has announced his debut solo album, ’10Charlie’, set for release on July 26.
Fans across Victoria who have followed Jamieson’s career from the pub stages of the 90s to festival headliner will get a new, intimate perspective on the artist. ’10Charlie’ promises a departure from the full-throttle rock of his band days, showcasing a more reflective and nuanced side of his songwriting that has evolved over three decades in the industry.
Accompanying the album announcement is the ‘PJ Air’ tour, a nationwide run of theatre shows that will see Jamieson perform in an acoustic and storytelling setting. For Melburnians, the tour hits home at the iconic Palais Theatre in St Kilda on Saturday, September 7.
“This record feels like a collection of stories I’ve been carrying around for years,” Jamieson said in a statement that will resonate with his loyal local fanbase. “It’s time to share them in their own space, without the distortion pedal.”
Tickets for the highly anticipated Melbourne show go on sale to the general public next Wednesday. Given Jamieson’s deep roots in the Australian music scene and his penchant for captivating live performances, tickets for the Palais date are expected to be a hot commodity.
