Boardman Businesses Gear Up for Spring Rush with Local Easter Festivities
As the Columbia River begins to thaw and the first signs of spring appear in the fields of Morrow County, Boardman’s business community is preparing for a seasonal surge. While major Easter events are often highlighted in larger Southern Oregon cities, local entrepreneurs are focusing on creating family-friendly opportunities right here at home.
“Spring is a time for community gathering, and that’s good for local commerce,” said Maria Chen, owner of The Boardman Bistro. She is among several downtown shopkeepers planning sidewalk promotions and specials to coincide with weekend family activities. “We’re encouraging people to shop local for their candy, baskets, and spring outfits before heading out to community events.”
The Port of Morrow and area parks are expected to see increased traffic as families seek outdoor activities. This annual spring uptick provides a welcome boost for service stations, convenience stores, and restaurants along Highway 730 and in the downtown corridor. The Boardman Chamber of Commerce notes that seasonal festivities, even on a smaller scale than in Medford or Ashland, help stimulate the local economy during a traditionally slower period.
For families looking for immediate plans, several area churches and community groups have announced traditional egg hunts in local parks. These events often feature partnerships with businesses donating treats or coupons, turning a simple hunt into a showcase for local services. “It’s about creating a sense of place,” said Chamber President David Miller. “When we invest in community fun, we’re also investing in Boardman’s economic vitality. A family that comes out for eggs might stay for lunch, fill up their tank, and remember what our local shops have to offer.”
