Boardman Schools Gear Up for Spring Semester with New Programs and Community Focus

As the winter chill begins to loosen its grip on the Columbia River, the Boardman School District is buzzing with activity, preparing for a robust spring semester filled with new opportunities for local students. District officials report a strong finish to the fall term and are channeling that momentum into several key initiatives.

A highlight for the coming months is the expansion of the district’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways. With Boardman’s economic landscape deeply tied to agriculture, logistics, and technology, programs in agricultural science, diesel technology, and computer-aided design are seeing increased enrollment. “We’re directly connecting classroom learning to the careers available right here in Morrow County,” said Superintendent Dr. Amanda Carter. “It’s about giving our graduates the tools to build their futures at home.”

Elementary schools are launching a new literacy drive, “Read Across Boardman,” partnering with the local public library to encourage reading outside school hours. The district is also finalizing plans for a upgraded STEM lab at Riverside Junior/Senior High School, funded through a combination of state grants and local community support.

On the calendar, parents are reminded of upcoming parent-teacher conference nights in early March, and the annual FFA Spring Showcase is set for April, celebrating the region’s agricultural roots. As Boardman continues to grow, its school district remains a committed cornerstone, focused on nurturing the community’s most valuable resource: its young people.
