Boardman Fire Crews Extinguish Blaze in Residential Area; No Injuries Reported

Firefighters from the Boardman Rural Fire Protection District responded swiftly to a residential structure fire on Tuesday afternoon, successfully containing the flames and preventing any injuries to occupants or first responders.

The call came in shortly after 2:30 PM for a reported fire at a single-family home on the east side of town. Multiple engine companies arrived on scene to find smoke and visible flames from the rear of the property. Crews initiated an aggressive interior attack to knock down the main body of the fire while others worked to ventilate the structure.

“The quick actions of the homeowner to get everyone out and call 911 immediately made all the difference,” said Boardman Fire Chief, David Moyer. “Our crews performed textbook firefighting operations under challenging conditions. The priority is always life safety, and we’re thankful that was secured here.”

While the fire was brought under control within 45 minutes, significant damage was sustained to one section of the home. The exact cause of the blaze remains under investigation by district officials, though early indications suggest it may have originated in a utility area. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the displaced residents with temporary housing and essentials.

Chief Moyer reminded all Boardman residents to ensure their smoke detectors are functional and to have a practiced escape plan. “This incident is a sobering reminder for our community. Please take a moment this week to check those alarms and review your family’s safety plan,” he urged.
