Boardman Businesses Gear Up for Green as St. Patrick’s Festivities Approach
While the Mahoning Valley prepares for its own celebration this weekend, the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day is beginning to bloom right here in Boardman. Local establishments are rolling out the green carpet, planning special menus and events to mark the annual Irish holiday.
“It’s a great time for community,” said Sheila O’Malley, owner of The Shamrock Grill on Boardman Avenue. “We’re seeing a lot of interest in our corned beef and cabbage special, and we’ll have live fiddle music on Saturday. It brings everyone together, whether you’re Irish or not.”
From the Riverfront Grill to Main Street pubs, many restaurants are featuring traditional Irish fare alongside green-themed desserts and beverages. The Boardman Chamber of Commerce notes that the holiday provides a welcome mid-March boost for local eateries and retailers selling festive gear.
For families looking to celebrate, local community centers are hosting craft events where children can make leprechaun hats and rainbow decorations. Safety reminders are also circulating, with the Boardman Police Department emphasizing plans for increased patrols on the evening of March 17th to ensure a safe holiday for all.
Though we may not have a large parade like some East Coast cities, Boardman’s St. Patrick’s Day observance is shaping up to be a homegrown affair focused on local flavor and neighborly cheer. Residents are encouraged to support local businesses and wear their green with pride.
