Pulaski Arts Center Launches Business Bootcamp for Virginia Creatives

In a move to bolster the region’s creative economy, a fine arts center in Pulaski is launching a first-of-its-kind entrepreneurial program tailored for artists and makers across the New River Valley. The initiative aims to transform artistic talent into sustainable business ventures.

The program, set to begin later this year, will provide local Virginia artists with practical tools often absent from traditional arts education. Participants will receive hands-on training in business planning, financial management, digital marketing, and e-commerce strategies specifically designed for the creative sector.

“We have an incredible wealth of talent in Southwest Virginia, but many artists struggle with the ‘business of art,'” said a center spokesperson. “This program bridges that gap, empowering them to build a brand, understand pricing, and effectively reach customers both locally and online.”

The curriculum is expected to cover topics from protecting intellectual property and applying for grants to leveraging social media platforms and navigating sales tax regulations for craft fairs and online stores. The goal is to help creatives turn their passion into a profession, contributing to the economic and cultural vitality of communities from Pulaski to Blacksburg.

This development comes as Virginia continues to invest in its creative industries as a driver for rural and small-town economic growth. By equipping artists with entrepreneurial skills, the Pulaski center hopes to foster a new generation of creative entrepreneurs who can thrive while enriching the cultural landscape of the Commonwealth.
