Boardman Community Center, Local Provider Team Up for Free Tech Skills Workshops

In an effort to bridge the digital divide and empower residents with essential 21st-century skills, a new partnership is bringing free digital education classes to the Boardman area. The initiative, spearheaded by the Boardman Community Center in collaboration with a major local internet service provider, aims to provide hands-on training for adults of all ages.

“Whether it’s applying for jobs online, helping grandkids with their homework, or just feeling more confident managing your daily life, digital literacy is no longer optional,” said Maria Fernandez, program director at the Boardman Community Center. “We saw a need right here in our own community and decided to act.”

The workshops will cover fundamental topics crucial for navigating today’s connected world. Participants can expect to learn the basics of computer operation, internet safety, and how to use popular video communication platforms to stay in touch with family. Special sessions will also be offered on creating resumes and searching for employment through online portals.

Classes are designed to be small and supportive, welcoming absolute beginners. All necessary equipment will be provided on-site at the Community Center. This local effort mirrors successful programs in other regions but is tailored specifically to address the needs and questions of Morrow County residents.

“We’re not just providing internet access; we’re committed to making sure people can use it effectively to improve their lives,” noted a representative from the service provider. Registration for the first series of workshops is now open. Boardman residents interested in boosting their digital confidence are encouraged to contact the Boardman Community Center directly to secure a spot.
