Omaha District Corps of Engineers Names New Public Affairs Chief for Region
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Omaha District has a new voice for its critical regional projects, and his work will have a direct impact on Council Bluffs and southwest Iowa. Ryan Hansen has been appointed as the Chief of Public Affairs for the district, taking the lead on community outreach and information sharing.
Based just across the river, the Omaha District oversees a massive portfolio that includes managing the Missouri River system, which is vital for flood control, navigation, and recreation for our community. Hansen will be the primary point of contact for the media and the public on issues ranging from levee conditions and reservoir management to updates on ongoing construction and environmental restoration projects along our waterways.
For Council Bluffs residents and business owners, this appointment means a direct line to the agency responsible for the riverfront’s safety and development. Clear communication from the Corps is essential during high-water events, and Hansen’s office will be crucial in disseminating timely information to keep Pottawattamie County informed and prepared.
Hansen can be reached via email at ryan.s.hansen@usace.army.mil or by phone at 402-995-2417. His role underscores the ongoing partnership between the Corps and local communities in managing the shared resource of the Missouri River, ensuring its benefits for commerce, agriculture, and quality of life in our region.
