Oregon Tech Sector Gets Tailored Health Plan Through New Industry Alliance
In a move aimed at bolstering the state’s competitive edge, the Technology Association of Oregon (TAO) has unveiled a new health insurance initiative designed specifically for its member companies and their employees. The association has partnered with Portland-based Moda Health and benefits consultant ALLtech Benefits to create a curated suite of health plan options.
This collaboration seeks to address a perennial pain point for Oregon’s growing tech ecosystem: attracting and retaining top talent in a market where comprehensive benefits are a key differentiator. By leveraging the collective scale of TAO’s membership, the program aims to provide more predictable costs and enhanced benefits that might be out of reach for individual startups and small to mid-sized firms.
“Our members, from burgeoning startups in Bend to established software firms in Portland, consistently tell us that healthcare is a major operational challenge,” said a TAO spokesperson. “This partnership allows us to offer a solution that is as innovative as the companies we serve, providing stability for both employers and their teams.”
Moda Health, a well-known insurer with deep roots in the Pacific Northwest, will administer the health plans. ALLtech Benefits, which specializes in the technology sector, will provide dedicated support to help companies navigate plan selection and employee enrollment. The offering is expected to include medical, dental, and vision coverage with an emphasis on flexibility.
For Oregon’s tech workforce, this could translate to more consistent coverage when moving between jobs within the local industry, potentially reducing gaps in care. The initiative reflects a broader trend of industry associations using their leverage to create member value, positioning Oregon’s tech community as a more cohesive and supportive environment for innovation to thrive.
