Boardman Resident Sentenced to Probation in Domestic Abduction Case

A Boardman man has been sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to charges stemming from the abduction of a former girlfriend earlier this year. The case, which unfolded within our local community, concluded in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court this week.

Court records indicate the incident involved the unlawful restraint and transportation of the victim, who was his ex-partner at the time. Details presented suggest the situation arose from a domestic dispute that escalated. The swift response and investigation by local law enforcement led to the man’s arrest and subsequent guilty plea to a reduced charge of attempted abduction.

Judge Anthony D’Apolito handed down a sentence of five years of community control, commonly known as probation. The judge emphasized that any violation of the strict terms of this probation would result in an immediate prison sentence of up to 18 months. As part of his sentence, the man is also required to complete a batterers’ intervention program.

“Cases like this are taken with the utmost seriousness by this court,” a court official stated following the hearing. “The sentence is structured to provide rehabilitation while prioritizing community safety and the well-being of the victim.”

The resolution of this case highlights the ongoing work of local justice and social service systems in addressing domestic violence. Resources for those in similar situations remain available through the Boardman Police Department and local advocacy groups.
