Boardman’s Honey Baked Ham Store Recovers After Fire, Easter Orders Fulfilled

A fire at the Honey Baked Ham store in Boardman last week caused significant disruption for families planning their Easter meals, but local management confirms all holiday orders have been successfully fulfilled.

The incident, which occurred in the early morning hours, triggered a swift response from the Boardman Fire District. While the exact cause remains under investigation, fire officials reported the blaze was contained to a rear storage and kitchen area, preventing it from spreading to the main retail space. There were no injuries reported.

“Our team was devastated at first, thinking of all the local orders we had to fill for our community’s Easter celebrations,” said store manager Lisa Chen, a longtime Boardman resident. “We immediately contacted our regional distribution center and worked around the clock. We were determined not to let our neighbors down.”

The store on Boardman’s main commercial corridor was closed for two days for cleanup and safety inspections. During that time, staff operated a makeshift pickup station from the parking lot, coordinating with customers via phone to ensure everyone received their pre-ordered hams, sides, and desserts.

Local customer Maria Gonzalez, who picks up a honey-glazed ham every Easter for her family gathering, praised the staff’s effort. “I got a call explaining the situation and they had my order ready right on time. It’s a reminder of how our local businesses pull together,” she said.

The store has since reopened for normal business. Management expressed deep gratitude to the fire crews and the community for its patience and support during the unexpected event.
