Boardman Police Seek Suspect in String of Car Wash Vandalism
Boardman Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man believed to be responsible for damaging commercial vacuum equipment at a local business. The incident, which was reported earlier this week, has left owners of similar service-oriented businesses on alert.
While authorities have not released the exact location, the vandalism targeted high-powered vacuum units, a common feature at gas stations and car washes throughout Morrow County. Damage to such specialized equipment can result in costly repairs and significant downtime for local entrepreneurs, directly impacting a vital service for the region’s agricultural and transportation workforce.
“This isn’t just petty mischief. This is an attack on a small business’s ability to operate and serve our community,” said a Boardman PD spokesperson. “When a car wash vacuum is out of order, it affects everyone from a truck driver cleaning out their cab to a family detailing their car for the weekend.”
Surveillance footage from the business captured images of the suspect, described as a male acting alone. Police are reviewing the footage and canvassing the area for additional witnesses. They urge any business owners in the Boardman area, particularly those with self-service facilities, to review their own security camera footage from the last several nights for similar activity.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Boardman Police Department directly. Tips can also be submitted anonymously. Protecting local commerce from senseless vandalism remains a top priority for law enforcement as they work to support the business climate that fuels our local economy.
