Dallas Faith Leaders Applaud Local Christian Colleges Amid National Rankings Spotlight
While a recent national list highlighted top Christian universities in Tennessee, the conversation here in Dallas turns to the strength and mission of our own faith-based institutions. Local educators and church leaders say the focus on values-driven education is more relevant than ever for North Texas families.
“It’s not just about a ranking on a list,” said Pastor Michael Reeves of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship. “It’s about the tangible impact these schools have right here in our community. They produce graduates with a strong ethical foundation who go on to serve in our hospitals, our schools, and our non-profits.”
Dallas-Fort Worth is home to several prominent Christian colleges, including Dallas Baptist University and the University of Dallas, a Catholic institution. These schools often emphasize integrating faith with learning, community service, and preparing students for vocations beyond the pulpit.
Dr. Sarah Chen, a Richardson parent currently touring colleges with her son, echoed this sentiment. “We’re looking for academic rigor, of course,” she said. “But in today’s world, the environment and the values a campus cultivates are equally important to us. It’s encouraging to see that model being recognized nationally.”
As families navigate the complex college selection process, local admissions counselors report increased inquiries about how faith-based education translates into career readiness and character development. The national attention on such institutions, they say, validates a choice many Dallas-area students are already making close to home.
